KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has clarified that no appointment has been finalised for the national mixed doubles head coach position.
It said the association was still in the process of evaluating and vetting candidates under consideration for the post.
“BAM will make an official announcement once the appointment has been finalised,” it said in a statement today.
Previously, it was reported that national junior men’s doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang had been linked to the position of national mixed doubles head coach.
The vacancy arose following the departure of former head coach Nova Widianto of Indonesia, who concluded his stint with BAM at the end of July to return to his homeland.
Nova, who joined BAM in January 2023, left behind a significant legacy after guiding Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei to become Malaysia’s first world champions in mixed doubles last year. — Bernama
