FAM parts ways with Harimau Malaya CEO, senior and U‑23 coaches in major shake‑up

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today announced the mutual termination of contracts involving several key personnel across the senior and under-23 squads.

In a statement, FAM said the contract of Harimau Malaya chief executive officer (CEO) Robert Douglas Friend, better known as Rob Friend, was terminated by mutual agreement, effective June 1.

FAM also confirmed that the contracts of Harimau Malaya head coach Peter Cklamovski and two members of the senior team’s technical staff, Matthew Smith and Seiya Imazaki, were mutually terminated effective June 16, 2026.

Meanwhile, the contracts of national under-23 head coach Nafuzi Zain and goalkeeping coach Mohd Yazid Mohd Yassin were also ended by mutual agreement, effective June 15, 2026.

“FAM respects the decisions made and extends its highest appreciation and gratitude for all services, commitment and contributions throughout their time with the national team.

“To ensure continuity and the smooth implementation of the national team programme, FAM is taking the necessary steps to fill the relevant positions. Any further developments involving the national team will be announced from time to time,” the statement said. — Bernama
