KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — Two national mixed doubles pairs have secured at least one spot in the semi-finals of the 2025 Denmark Open Badminton Championships, as they are scheduled to face each other in an All-Malaysian quarter-finals tomorrow.

The country’s top pair and world number four, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, had no trouble advancing to the last eight after defeating Chinese duo, Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying, 21-14, 21-11 in the second round action at the Jyske Bank Arena, Odense today.

The victory means Tang Jie-Ee Wei will face compatriots Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie, who had already advanced after eliminating Japanese pair, Yuichi Shimogami-Sayaka Hobara, 21-18, 21-13.

However, the national women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, crashed out in the second round after being stunned by a defeat to the world number 55 pair from Japan, Arisa Igarashi-Chiharu Shida, 18-21, 9-21.

Earlier, the national men’s doubles pair, Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong, created an upset by ousting the world number one pair from South Korea, Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae, with a straight-set victory of 21-19, 21-14.

The world number 24 pair will continue their challenge in the quarter-finals against the tournament’s fifth seeds from China, Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang. — Bernama
