KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — National mixed doubles pairs Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai and Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien advanced to the quarter-finals of the Korea Open after winning their second-round matches at the Suwon Gymnasium in Gyeonggi today.

Fifth seeds Soon Huat-Shevon overcame China’s Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying 21-16, 21-13 in just 31 minutes to secure their place in the last eight.

They will face either Japan’s Yuta Watanabe-Maya Taguchi or world number one Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin of China in the quarter-finals.

Tien Ci-Chiew Sien defeated South Korea’s Lee Jongmin-Chae Yu Jung 9-21, 21-15, 21-17 in a hard-fought battle lasting 52 minutes.

They are scheduled to meet either Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje or Indonesia’s Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu for a place in the semi-finals. — Bernama
