Omid Nazari inks one-year deal to be TFC’s last foreign signing

KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 23 — Sweden-born midfielder Omid Nazari is Terengganu FC’s (TFC) final foreign signing this season, with the 31-year-old inking a one-year contract.

Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd (TFCSB) chief executive officer Ab Rasid Jusoh said they have signed up Nazari, who also holds Filipino citizenship, to fill their Asean player quota and help them navigate this season’s challenges in the Malaysia League (M-League) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup.

"Nazari has vast footballing experience, having played in Europe’s Champions League competition with (Sweden’s) Malmo FF.

"He has also made five appearances with Iran’s national team. In Southeast Asia, he used to play for Persib Bandung in Indonesia from 2019 to 2021,” he said in a statement today, adding that Nazari had also featured in the M-League with Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) last season.

As such, he hoped that the presence of the 1.84-metre tall midfielder will help TFC achieve better results compared to last year.

TFC had earlier signed up Habib Haroon (Bahrain), Adisak Kraisorn (Thailand), Sony Norde (Haiti), Ivan Mamut (Croatia), Sardor Kulmatov (Uzbekistan), Domigoj Pusic (Croatia), Jordan Mintah (Ghana) and Argzim Redzovic (Montenegro). — Bernama
