ALOR SETAR, Feb 7 — China easily collected two more points after crushing Singapore in the men’s and women’s events today in the Badminton Asia Team Championship 2018 at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium, here, today.
In men’s team event, China in group A, started the day with a 5-0 beating of Singapore. Shi Yuqi claimed the first point when he subdued Ryan Ng Zin Rei 21-16, 21-13.
The first double’s pair of He Jiting-Tan Qiang tamed Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Terry Hee Yong Kai, 21-16, 21-17.
In the second single, Singapore’s Muhamad Elaf Wei Tan succumbed to Qia Bin 21-10, 21-6 while China’s pair, Han Chengkai-Zhou Haodong won the fourth point when they made light work of Jian Liang Lee- Jason Wong Guang Liang in 21-12, 21-12 before Lu Guangzu claimed the final point by overpowering Joel Koh Jia Wei 21-19, 21-13.
In women’s event, China continue to fly high by beating Singapore 5-0 in group Z starting with China’s top single’s Chen Yufei claiming the first point with a 21-12, 21-8 rout of Grace Chua Hui Zhen while the doubles pair, Du Yue-Li Yinhui thrashed Ong Ren-Crystal Wong Jia Ying 21-14, 21-18.
He Bingjiao gave China their third point when she crushed Jia Rong Sito 21-12, 21-10. Singapore pair, Ker’Sara Koh-Bernice Lim Zhi Rui were also unable to stop the losing streak when they lost to Dong Wenjing-Feng Xueying, 21-10, 21-12.
Gao Fangjie claimed the last point by disposing of Nur Insyirah Khan in 21-6, 21-12.
Meanwhile Japan also recorded an emphatic victory in women’s team event when they trounced Hong Kong 5-0 in group W, with Nozomi Okuhara claiming the first point for the team after beating Cheung Ngan Yi at 21-14, 21-19 while Misaki Matsumoto-Ayaka Takahashi blasted Ng Wing Yung- Yeung Nga Ting 21-8, 21-9.
Sayaka Sato gave her team the third point with a 21-18, 21-11 win over Cheung Ying Mei while Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota beat Ng Tsz Yau-Wu Yi Ting 21-15, 21-7. Japan bagged the final point via Aya Ohori who defeated Yeung Sum Yee in 21-10, 21-18.
South Korea in group X, trashed Maldives 5-0 with Jang Mi Lee beating Fathimah Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq 21-3, 21-4. The second point was collected by Chang Ye Na-Hye Rin Kim who beat Nafha Nasrullah-Moosa Aminath Shahurunaz in 21-3, 21-2. Joo I Jeon claimed an easy win over Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq 21-3, 21-2.
Another South Korea pair, Ha Na Baek-Yu Rim Lee clinched an easy win over sisters pair of Aminath Nabeeha and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq 21-1, 21-1. Se Young An secured the winning point by defeating Nafha NAsrulla 21-2, 21-4.
Meanwhile, South Korea also recorded victories in both men’s and women’s team events today.
In a group B match, South Korea blanked Kazakhstan 5-0, with the first point coming from Son Wan-ho who subdued Dmitriy Panarin 21-8, 21-10 while Lee Dong Keun trounced Artur Niyakoz 21-9, 21-7 for the second point.
Kwang Hee Heo thrashed Khaitmurat Kulmatov 21-9, 21-12 while Kim Won Ho and Seung Jae Seo were hardly challenged when Dmitriy Panarin-Ikramzhan Yuldashev tamely go down in 21-8, 21-8 for the third and fourth points.
Chung Eui Seok-Min Hyuk Kang made it 5-0 for South Korea when they overpowered Khaitmurat Kulmatov-Artur Niyazov in 21-8, 21-12.
It was the same ritual for Japan in group B, when they beat Nepal 5-0 in the men’s team event.
Kazumasa Sakai hammered Ratnajit Tamang 21-7, 21-6 while Kanta Tsuneyama claimed the second point an easy 21-11, 21-9 win over Sajan Krisna Tampakar.
Kento Momota continued the winning momentum by beating Bikash Shrestha 21-12, 21-11.
In the doubles, Takuro Hoki partnered Yugo Kobayashi to dismiss Dipesh Dhami-Ratnajit Tamang 21-7, 21-7 while Hiroyuki Endo-Yuta Watanabe wrapped up the day by crushing Bikash Shresta-Sajan Krishna Tamrakar, 21-4, 21-8.
In women’s event, Thailand in group Y trounced Vietnam for 5-0 win.
Nitchaon Jindapol claimed Thailand’s first point by beating Thi Trang (B) Vu 21-14, 21-11.
Thailand’s second and third point came through Pornpawee Chochuwong who beat Thuy Linh Nguven 21-9, 23-21 and Busanan Ongbamrungphan who disposed of Thi Hoai Do 21-12, 21-10.
Meanwhile, Chayanit Chaladchalam and Phataimas Meunwong were forced into the rubber set before prevailing over Thuy Linh Nguyen-Thi Trang (B) Vu in 21-8, 18-21, 23-21.
Savitree Amitrapai-Pacharapun Chochuwong claimed the winning point by overcoming Thi Phuong Hong Dinh-Thi Hoai Do, 21-9, 21-10.
Thai’s first singles, Khosit Phetpradab claimed the opening point after beating Wang Tzu Wei 21-19, 21-17.
The match tied 1-1 after Taiwan’s pair, Lee Jhe-Huei-Lee Yang bounced back to dispose Kittinupong Kedren-Dechapol Puavaranukroh 21-16, 21-7.
Hsu Jen Hao came to put Taiwan back in front when he disappointed Kantaphon Wangcharoen by claiming the second point for his team with 21-17, 21-16 win.
Taiwan’s second pair of Lu Ching Yao-Yabg Po Han raised the gap when they denied Tinn Isriyanet-Kittisak Namdash 15-21, 17-21 before Lin Yu Hsien defeated by Pannawit Thongnuam 18-21, 19-21.
In Group D men’s event, Indonesia won 5-0 over Philippines by taking first point through Jonatan Christie who beat Ros Leonard Pedrosa 21-15, 21-13.
Indonesian pair of Mohamad Ahsan-Rian Agung Saputro whipped out Carlos Antonie Cayanan-Philip Joper Escueta 21-16, 21-11 while Anthony Ginting beat Arthur Samuel Salvado 21-14, 21-9.
Angga Pratama-Hendra Setiawan a had tough match against Peter Gabriel Magnaye-Alvin Morada before winning 21-17, 21-16 while Ihsan Maulana Mustofa defeated Lanz Ralf Zafra 21-8, 21-12 for the Indonesian final points.
In the same group, India overwhelmed Maldives 5-0 , clinching the first point through K Srikanth who beat Hussein Zayan Shaheed 21-5, 21-6.
S. Praneeth disposed of Ahmed Nibal with 21-10, 21-4 for the second point, followed by V. Sameer who knocked down Mohamed Arsalaan Ali 21-5, 21-1 to claim the third point.
R. Satwiksairaj-S Chirag clinched the fourth point after defeating Hussein Zayan Shaheed-Hassan Afsheem Shaheem 21-8, 21-8 while MR Arjun-S. Ramchandran cheered up the Indian Team by claiming the winning point over Mohamed Arsalaan Ali-Ahmed Nibal 21-2, 21-5. — Bernama
