KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 — In an error-ridden match, national men’s doubles Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong bowed out to Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final of the Perodua Malaysia Masters at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur Sports City.

The Olympic silver medallists start off well when they won the first set 21-14 but wasted their chances when they were leading 18-13 in the second set in which Indonesians gallantly fought back and took the set in 24-22.

V Shem-Wee Kiong tamely went down 13-21 in the rubber.

Wee Kiong when met by reporters admitted to many unforced errors especially in the second set which took the match into the deciding set.

"They changed their tactic when we were leading 18-13 and we should have slowed the game to shake their attacking rhythm,” he said.

"They speed up the tempo and we played into their game. We will take it as a lesson today,” he added.

Earlier V Shem-Wee Kiong who could only make it to the semi-finals in the Thai Masters last week after playing together again, are scheduled to play in the Indonesian Masters starting on Tuesday. — Bernama
