Three young squash players make Malaysia proud in Australia

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 — Three young squash players today made Malaysia proud when they won their respective categories at the 2018 Australian Squash Junior Open Championships in Queensland, Australia, today.

D. Vharshamithraa won the Girls Under 15 (U-15) category by defeating Natalie Sayes of New Zealand; 11-4, 11-5, 11-8, at Nerang Squash and Fitness Centre, said the tournament’s website; www.sportyhq.com.

Joshua Rahul Raj won the Boys U-11 title by defeating Zane Wolpers of Australia; 11-3, 11-4, 11-5.

Kerwin Teh made it three in the row for Malaysia by dislodging Elijah Thomas of New Zealand; 11-6, 11-6, 13-15, 1-8 in the Boys U-17 category in the tournament which features 202 participants.

It was the second title for Teh, having won the Boys U-17 category at the 2018 Oceania Squash Junior Championship, held from Jan 11-14 at the same venue. — Bernama
