KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — The Malaysian badminton squad hopes to repeat the success four years ago by winning three gold medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to 15.

The proposed squad comprises Datuk Lee Chong Wei (men’s singles),  Goh Jin Wei (women’s singles), Tan Wee Kiong-Goh V Shem (men’s doubles), Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, Tan Kia Meng- Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles) and Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei (women’s doubles).

Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the list of players would be presented in the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) meeting on Jan 8.

"Each team can only send five male and female players. Technically, the players are medal prospects. We are looking at three gold medals,” he told the media after chairing the Coaching & Training Committee (C&T) meeting here, today.

Malaysia won three gold medals in the men’s doubles, the women doubles and the mixed doubles events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. — Bernama
