KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 ― The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) today extended their condolences and appreciation to former national football head coach, Allan Harris who passed away on Thursday.
English Premier League side, Chelsea announced the passing of Harris, 74, in their Twitter account and also their website, yesterday.
Harris made appearances in 100 matches in two separate spells for the London club across the 1960s and 70’s.
During his tenure here, Malaysia did not enjoy much success including a fourth-placed finish in the 2002 AFF Suzuki Cup football tournament and also the silver and bronze medals at the SEA Games, respectively.
A poor result in the second round of the 2006 World Cup qualifiers saw FAM sack Harris and replaced him with former Hungary goalkeeper and national coach, the late Bertalan Bicskei in the second half of 2004. ― Bernama
