ALOR SETAR, Nov 7 — Three high-ranked officials in the Kedah Football Association (KFA) are ready to step down if given the greenlight by KFA president Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah to make way for ‘non-political leaders’ to take over.

"I look at the proposal for the good of football in Kedah and to safeguard the image of political leaders in the association, especially when negative issues like the recent tickets issue... to fulfil the wishes of the fans, I am will willing to step down,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, the Kedah Umno Youth through its leader Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin urged Ahmad Bashah who is also the Kedah mentri besar to consider stepping down from the post of KFA president with immediate effect.

The call was following the action of some fans who started ‘booing’ Ahmad Bashah, which the Umno Youth felt was inappropriate and shameful.

The Kedah Umno Youth also proposed that all politicians from Umno who are holding posts in KFA to step down with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, two KFA vice presidents, Datuk Badrol Hisham Hashim and Datuk Othman Aziz also expressed their willingness to step down.

Badrol Hisham is the state assemblyman for Kuala Nerang while Othman is the Member of Parliament for Jerlun. — Bernama
