KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 — National women’s doubles pair Vivian Hoo Kah Mun/Woon Khe Wei who received University Malaya’s Special Sports Award hope the award would serve as a booster for their challenge in the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open from April 4-9.

The award was presented to the duo during UM Sports Awards night 2016 last night, in appreciation of their contribution to the country in local and international competitions.

Also in the list of recipients were Pandelela Rinong, Wendy Ng Yan Yee, Ahmad Amsyar Azman (diving), Haziq Kamaruddin (archery) and Nauraj Singh Randhawa (athletics).

"Year 2016 was filled with good and bad memories, especially when preparing for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil but I wish to thank UM for recognising our contributions.

"This award will serve as a morale booster for our quest in 2017, especially when competing in the Malaysia Open next month,” said Vivian Hoo last night.

However, Vivian Hoo and Khe Wei said they have not set any specific target for the Malaysia Open but would focus on one match at a time. — Bernama
