KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — Premier League newcomers Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP FC) pulled off a sensational upset by beating Terengganu 4-2 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu tonight.
The convincing win despite playing with 10-man throughout the second half saw PKNP FC jump to second spot in the Premier League, just two points behind leaders Negeri Sembilan, after five matches.
PKNP FC who started the match in fifth spot, got off to a superb start when Muhd Shahrel Fikri Mohd Fauzzi stunned the home team with a brace in 12th and 29th minutes before Argentine import Federico Matias Falcone reduced the deficit in the 36th minute.
As soon as the second half started referee Muhd Rahmat Jantan flashed the red card at Muhammad Fadhil Idris for a foul on Terengganu skipper Issey Farran Morgan Nakajima.
However, despite playing with 10-man, the side from Perak stretched their lead through Ritus Krjaulis in the 52nd minute.
Terengganu coached by Ifran Bakti managed to reduce the deficit once again through Issey Farran in the 59th minute but Melaka United import Vincent Lucas Weiji gave his team all three points when he scored in the 82nd minute.
In another Premier League match played at the Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan FA registered a 3-1 over UiTM FC with goals from South Korean import Shim Woon Sub in the 19th and 66 minutes while Abdul Malik Mat Ariff was also on the score sheet with a 28th minute goal.
UiTM's only goal of the match came through Nigerian import Akanni Sunday Wasiu in the 36th minute. — Bernama
