GLASGOW, Nov 20 — Briton Craig Reedie was today re-elected president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) for a second mandate of three years.

Reedie, who took over from Australian John Fahey in 2013, was the sole candidate for the post, with the election taking place at the Wada Foundation Board meeting in Glasgow.

Norwegian Sports Minister Linda Hofstad Helleland was elected vice-president of Wada, founded thanks to an initiative by the International Olympic Committee in 1999 in the wake of the Festina doping scandal that rocked international cycling.

Based in Montreal, Wada has a budget of US$27 million (RM118.9 million) funded by the IOC and various national governments. Its aim is to bring consistency to anti-doping policies and regulations within sport organisations and governments across the world. — AFP
