IPOH, Aug 3 — The Perak State Sports Council (MSN) has been ordered to carry out a major revamp and transformation following the weak performance of the Perak contingent in the 18th Sukma which ended on Sunday.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the revamp as well as transformation should be carried out to ensure Perak did not repeat their worst outing at the Sukma.

"I hope state sports associations take seriously the poor showing as I completely did not expect such a disappointing performance. Even though the overall haul of medals was big, it comprised mostly silver and bronze and not gold as we had hoped,” he told reporters after a state exco meeting here today.

Perak ended the games in Sarawak at 12th spot after collecting 12 gold medals compared to 40 in the previous edition.

The only proud moment for Perak said Zambry was to defend the prestigious football gold after beating Federal Territories 2-0 in the final. — Bernama
