Kuala Lumpur back on top in Premier League

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — Kuala Lumpur are back at top spot in the Premier League after a comfortable 5-1 win against bottom side Armed Forces at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium here last night.

Despite having won six out of 10 matches and secured 21 points together with Melaka United, The Hawks still deserved to claim the top spot with a better goal advantage.

Their five goals tonight were netted by Helmi Remeli in the 12th minute, Hafiz Johar (14th), Casagrande (33rd and 48th) and Leo Carioca (47th), while the ATM's only goal was scored by Venice Elphi in the 21st minute.

Melaka United was forced to move to the second spot after suffering their first defeat for this season, losing 1-2 to Perlis at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar.

R Surendran sprang a surprise by scoring an early goal for Melaka in the very first minute before Perlis bounced back and scored two goals through import players — Kayne Vincent in the 88th minute and Edward Junior Wilson, a minute later.

Negri Sembilan had to settle at third spot in the Premier League for now after a 2-2 draw with Sabah on home turf.

The Rusa squad's goals were scored by Andrew Nabbout (41st) and Joel Joseph Chianese (69th), while Sabah's goals were contributed by Maxsius Musa (5th) and Ummareng Bacok (80th).

Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) moved one spot up to the fourth place after a slim 1-0 victory against UiTM FC at the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council Stadium in Johor Baru, through a penalty shot completed by Paulo Rangel in the 53rd minute.

At the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka, club representative PKNS FC failed to take the advantage of playing on home ground as the match against Kuantan FA game ended in a 4-4 draw.

Matias Nicholas scored a hat-trick for PKNS FC in the 16th, 54th and 61st minutes, while Gabriel Miguel Guerra netted another goal in the 41st minute.

Four goals by Kuantan FA were netted by Dao Bakary (7th), Srdjan Vidakovic (15th), Hazwan Fakrullah Zuridi (49th) and Mohamad Shafiq Razali (76th).

PKNS FC were also forced to play with 10 players after team captain Abdul Ghani Abd Rahman was given the read card for assaulting Kuantan FA's Mohd Kamal Rodiarjat. — Bernama
