Malaysian doubles pair shown the exit at Singapore Open

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — The Malaysian sole representative in Singapore Open, the doubles pair of Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong was shown the exit by first seeded Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong, today.

The national duo failed to advance into the quarter finals round after they lost to world number one pair, in straight sets 14-21 and 13-21 in the men’s doubles competition.

In the 39-minute battle held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, V Shem/Wee Kiong started well in the early match but failed to continue the lead towards the end of the first set.

In the second set, V Shem/Wee Kiong continued their poor performance and let the South Koreans led 5-0, before securing the easy win.

The South Korean pair will meet either Puavaranukroh Dechapol/Kedren Kittinupong of Thailand or Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi of Indonesia in the quarter finals battle tomorrow. — Bernama
