Pandelela-Mun Yee finish fourth in Dubai, unable to match Beijing triumph

KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 — Malaysian diving duo, Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee failed to emulate their opening leg feat in China after finishing fourth in the second leg of the F‌ina Diving World Series in Dubai, United Arab Emirates yesterday.

The pair who splashed their way to a bronze medal in the opening leg in Beijing, China, last week, accumulated 309.12 points in the 10m women's synchronised platform after six dives, according to the Fina website. www.fina.org.

World diving powerhouse, China retained the gold medal they had won in the opening leg after Liu Huixia/Si Yajie emerged victorious with 333.24 points while Meaghan Benfeito/Roseline Filion of Canada secured silver (326.58 points).

Great Britain pair, Tonia Couch/Lois Toulson who won the silver medal in the opening leg had to be contended with the bronze medal after collecting 311.76 points.

Pandelela will compete in the 10m women's individual platform event today.

The remaining legs are in Windsor, Canada from April 15-17 before concluding in Kazan, Russia, slated for April 22-24. — Bernama
