BANGKOK, March 16 — Malaysian Muay Thai exponents did the country proud by winning four gold medals at the 1st International Thai Martial Arts Games which ended here today.

Team manager Mohd Hazrul Mohd Sapri said the achievement of the team which won four gold and two silver medals had surpassed that target and expectations of the contingent.

“This is a fantastic achievement because before heading to Bangkok for the competition, the target was only two gold medals. It shows that our exponents are capable of competing against some of the best exponents from other countries,” he told Bernama, here today.

He added that Malaysian Muay Thai exponents had competed against opponents who were much taller and bigger in size.

Iskandar Zulkarnain Ezry who competed in the Under-12 category beat three times world champion from Thailand to win the gold.
