UiTM tops league, KL team fails to shine

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — The UiTM FC retained its position in the Premier League even though it tied with no scores with Kuantan FA at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam yesterday.

UiTM FC shared seven points with Melaka United and Kuala Lumpur, at top place with a goal difference.

Melaka United rose with a close win of 2-1 over Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) II at the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council, jumping to second place.

The home team opened with a score through an imported striker from Brazil at the 17th minute before the Hang Tuan squad rose through a score by Balsa Bozovic at the 30th minute and Wan Amirul Afiq at the 87th minute.

The game was marred by a red card incident when referee Zulkarnain Zakaria ordered Melaka United player, Mohd Alif Samsudin to leave the field after getting a second yellow card at the 57th minute for roughing up a JDT II player.

The Kuala Lumpur team also failed to shine when they tied 1-1 with Negeri Sembilan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi and had to settle for third place.

The home team scored at 23rd minute through Mohd Norhafizzuan, before Zhafri Yahya, equalising the score at the 86th minute, gave one point to Kuala Lumpur.     

At the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah failed to score a first win this season when it lost 0-2 to DRB Hicom FC through a score by Muhammad Fakrul Aiman Sidid at the 38th minute and Muhammad Nazri Mohd Kamal at the 71st minute.

Another club from the Klang Valley, PKNS FC scored its first win for this season by defeating Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) 2-0 at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka.

The two goals for the ‘The Red Ants’ squad were scored by imported striker from Argentina, Juan Manuel Cobelli at the 64th minute and Palestinian imported player, Matias Nicolas Jadue Gonzalez at the 73rd minute.

Sime Darby FC also failed to shine on home ground when it tied 1-1 with Perlis at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium.

Liberian imported player, Edward Junior Wilson placed the Singa Utara team ahead through a score at the 21st minute before Sime Darby FC levelled the position through Rafiq Shah Zaim at the 43rd minute. — Bernama
