KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — A penalty goal in the 106th minute by Megah Murni FC's Md Badrul Hisyam Azmi helped the Selangor side to defeat MISC-MIFA Club 1-0 in the first round of FA Cup at Selayang Stadium last night.
The match went into extra time after both sides were tied to a goalless draw at the end of 90 minutes play.
Megah Murni FC under coach R Nallathamby, however, will face formidable opponents in the second round on Feb 19 as they were scheduled to take on 2015 Premier League champions Kedah at Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar.
Earlier, Md Syafiq Johari had a chance to put Megah Murni ahead in the 49th minute but his penalty kick was saved by MISC-MIFA goalkeeper Mohd Khairul Izzuwan Saari.
Megah Murni's efforts to find the net in the 30-minute extra time were fruitful when G Darshen was taken down by a MISC-MIFA player in the penalty box and was awarded a second penalty.
Md Badrul Hisyam made no mistake with his penalty kick and took his team to the second round of the FA Cup competition. — Bernama
