KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 14 — Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir announces a reward of RM15,000 for every main player in the Kedah football team which emerged as runner up of the 2015 Malaysia Cup football tournament.
“We know the Kedah squad fought without hoping for any big reward all this while, but with this extraordinary achievement, after discussions with the relevant parties, we have agreed to give this reward,” he told reporters at a dinner to fete the Kedah team tonight.
Mukhriz said other players would also be rewarded based on the per centage of time they spent playing for the team.
He said the team’s next mission was to focus on the Super League.
“The team will rest until February. After this, the focus will be to spruce up the team further for next season,” he said.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah feted the team at a dinner at Istana Negara tonight.
Kedah emerged as the runner up of the Malaysia Cup football tournament this year after losing to Selangor 0-2 in the final at Shah Alam Stadium last night. — Bernama
