FAM slammed for failure to resolve pay issue

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 — The Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) regrets the action of the Football Association of Malaysia which is still lagging in the case of salary claims of eight players including one Kelantan import player.

PFAM chief executive officer, Izham Ismail said the FAM Status Committee which still failed to give any response seemed to indicate that the organisation was not serious about the welfare and rights of players which had been denied to them by their employers.

He claimed that the PFAM had issued a media statement on November 18 on the matter and handed over all complaints and affidavits to the FAM last June, but no further action had been taken on the matter.

“The PFAM really hopes that the cases of these players be immediately resolved for the sake of justice, “ Izham said in a media statement today.

The eight cases involved the termination of contract of three Kuala Lumpur players, Farouk Hashim, Fariss Azlan, and Fazilidin Khalid, as well as Felda United player Azrul Ahmad as well as compensation payment for former Sabah player, M. Yoganathan.

The other three cases were concerning Anis Faron from the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) II team, payment to the Angkatan Tentera Malaysia team and payment for Kelantan import player Jonathan McKain from Australia.

At the same time, Izham also suggested that a deadline be given to the committee not to take too much time to resolve a case.

He also expressed concern that FAM’s failure to resolve a case could be taken to the Dispute Resolution Chamber of FIFA.

“To the PFAM, this is a win-win situation as the cases will be heard quickly, while the FAM Status committee will no longer be burdened by outstanding cases,” he said. — Bernama
