JDT book Malaysia Cup quarterfinal berth after beating Perak 2-1

IPOH, Nov 6 — High flying Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), fresh from winning the AFC Cup last week, came from behind to beat Perak 2-1 in a Malaysia Cup Group B match at the Perak Stadium, here tonight to book a berth in the quarterfinals with an unbeaten record.

The defeat saw Perak exit the competition after managing only three points from five matches as only one match remains but Sarawak in second place have collected seven points.

In tonight’s only Malaysia Cup match played, Perak however, took the lead through its import Charles Souza Chad in the 29th minute before former Selangor stalwart Mohd Amri Yahya levelled the score in the 33rd minute.

National striker Safee Sali ensured the victory with a 45th minute strike to give JDT all three points and maintain his team’s unbeaten record in the competition. — Bernama
