Malaysia sink to No 171 in FIFA October ranking

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 — The absence of class A international friendly matches for the Harimau Malaya (national squad) lately saw Malaysia dropping two rungs in the latest FIFA ranking.

Malaysia are now in 171st place in the world in the FIFA monthly ranking for October which was issued yesterday, compared to 169th in September and August.

Prior to this, Malaysia were 154th (January and February), 153rd (March), 164th (April), 166th (May) and 162nd (June).

Meantime, 2015 Copa America runners up, Argentina retained their position as the best team in the world after collecting 1,419 points.

The 2014 World Cup champions, Germany, who prior to this were third, ousted Belgium from second place after collecting 1,401 points while Belgium dropped to third place with 1,387 points. — Bernama
