PETALING JAYA, Aug 29 — Harimau Malaya are reeling from their “nightmare” 6-0 loss to Palestine in the World Cup qualifying match in June.

However, they are ready to roar against Bangladesh in their friendly at Shah Alam Stadium today.

“That was our worst performance. It’s impossible for me to forget,” captain Safiq Rahim said at Bukit Jalil Stadium yesterday. “Hopefully we can

redeem ourselves.

“I plead for support from fans. For my teammates, let’s give our all for 90 minutes and forget about our club commitments.”

Coach Dollah Salleh said: “It will be difficult as my players are tired but the match is important.

“I need to get their confidence back after their loss to Palestine.”

Bangladesh coach Lodewijk de Kruif said his charges will give 100 per cent despite it being a friendly.

“Training or friendlies are important. If my players do not give their full focus, they will be sacked,” said the Dutchman.

“Winning is not important. It is preparation for our clash against Australia.

“This is the moment to practice our tactics.”

Bangladesh will take on the Asian Cup champions Australia on Sept 3 in Perth in the 2018 World Cup and 2018 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Harimau Malaya have two crucial matches in the 2019 Asian Cup qualifying round — against United Arab Emirates on Thursday and Saudi Arabia five days later.

Malaysia are last in Group A with a draw and a loss.
