JAKARTA, Aug 13 ― Malaysia's men's doubles, Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong upset defending champions Shin Baek Cheol/Ko Sung Hyun of South Korea, 21-12, 21-15 in the World Badminton Championships second round at Istora Senayan here last night.
“We fought the defending champions all the way. Luckily, our strategy worked well during the match and that helped us,” said Goh.
He said they would try to be at their best tomorrow and hoped to repeat the success.
“We've never met the Chinese pair and hope we can win.”
Today, Malaysian singles champion Datuk Lee Chong Wei will play against Wang Zhengming of China while Zulfadli Zulkifli of Malaysia will play against Wei Nan of Hong Kong.
The Malaysian women's doubles of Amelia Alicia/Soong Fie Cho also made the the third round and will face world number one, Matsutomo Misaki/Ayaka Takahashi of Japan. ― Bernama
