SEPANG, Aug 3 — Ducati’s Chaz Davies sped to victory after a thrilling race two yesterday, leaving Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jonathan Rea just six-points shy of the 2015 World Superbike Malaysian leg title.
Davies clinched his win with a time of 33:36.466 seconds with Rea 0.091s behind.
Spaniard Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team-Red Devils) was third with 36:41.474s.
“It’s a tough battle but I feel relieved to win the closing stage,” Davies said. “The last gap of the race was just a matter of hanging on and avoid to make any mistakes..”
The race started with a thrilling action when veteran Max Biaggi of SIC Aprilia Racing Team crashed out after a collision at turn one and retired.
With the win, Davies moved up second in the overall standings with 308 points. Rea remains in first place (452) and his teammate Sykes, who was previously second is third with 295 points.
