KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will conduct a trial selection to select junior players for the World Junior Championships to be held from Nov 4 to 8 in Lima, Peru.

BAM technical director Morten Frost Hansen said the trial selection would be held in Bukit Kiara Stadium here from Aug 10 to 14, and would be monitored by the BJSS performance project manager Kwan Yoke Meng and other coaches.

He said they would invite some of players who had been recently showcasing their best performances in the Asian Junior Championship in Bangkok, Perak Open as well as upcoming national junior final circuit in Alor Star and one of the senior international tournaments.

“Based on the discussion with Yoke Meng, we are looking into the World Junior trial selection where we will invite selected players from outside.

“We have identified the players that we feel should be in the trial selection,” he told reporters at the BAM office in Bukit Kiara Stadium today.

Meanwhile, the Danish is planning to do some changes to the form five and post form five players, whom he described as had been ‘parked in a space’ for not getting maximum programme out of one year in post form five.

“That is a strong way of saying it (wasting their time). I think we can do better when they are out of form five. They actually have full time to play and train.

“We have not really make use of it. I think we could look into that and see what needs to be changed,” he said.

Frost added that he would send the proposal soon and hoped that BAM would accept the changes and make some investment in order to achieve their target in badminton. — Bernama
