KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — English Premier League club Liverpool FC's supporters began flooding the Bukit Jalil National Stadium as early as 5pm to watch the friendly match between the club and Malaysia Select XI, tonight.
The atmosphere around the stadium grounds was like a carnival with tens of thousands of supporters, including some foreigners, who had come to support 'The Reds', with cries of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.
For hardcore fan Kamarul Azmi, 33, it was exciting to finally be able to witness his favourite team in action, after he missed out on the last trip by the team in 2011, but added that he hoped Dollah Salleh's side would put up a good fight.
“For Liverpool, I hope they can end next season (2015/16) in the top four of the league,” said Kamarul, who has been supporting the club for the past 20 years.
A family of six from Abu Dhabi, UAE, also caught the eye among the throng of supporters, holding a signboard which read: 'YNWA, from Abu Dhabi. Travelled 6,000km to watch LFC.'
