SINGAPORE, June 26 — What happens when you take English Premier League footballers such as Olivier Giroud and Leighton Baines and swap their footballs for a chapteh?

Not surprisingly, some took to the traditional game immediately, while others probably wish they had never laid their feet on the thing.

The video was released as part of the promotion for next month’s Barclays Asia Trophy that starts on July 15 in Singapore.

The tournament has been held biennially since 2003 and is the only Premier League-affiliated competition to take place outside England.

This year will see debut appearances from Arsenal and Stoke City, while Everton appear for the first time since 2005.

The Singapore Select XI, meanwhile, is the first team from Singapore to compete in the Barclays Asia Trophy.
