Terengganu coach wants team to stay focus on FA Cup quarter-finals

KUALA TERENGGANU, April 5 ― Despite displaying great fighting spirit to beat Kelantan 2-1 in their sixth Super League outing yesterday, Terengganu coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim is still worried and wants his charges to stay focus on the FA Cup first leg quarter-finals match next Tuesday.

Abdul Rahman said he would not take the challenge lightly as he was aware of the stiff competition that would be given by the much-rejuvenated Perak squad in the first leg at Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium here, to book a berth into the semi-finals.

“We know Perak are riding high and their players are fast and aggressive. We should make full use of our home ground advantage to eventually progress into the final,” he told reporters here today.

Therefore, he said the short lull should be used to prepare the squad for the important game.

Abdul Rahman said the win over Kelantan yesterday had bolstered the morale of players to face Perak.

On their new import player, Issey Morgan Nakajima-Farran who was a national player for Canada, he said Issey had yet to adapt.

“I think he will adapt well and build better rapport with other players in the team soon,” he said.

Nakajima-Farran was recruited to replace Terengganu's Lebanese import Hassan Chaito who terminated his contract after sustaining injuries. ― Bernama
