KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 — Former Harimau Muda player Gary Steven Robbat who is serving a three-month suspension from the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will undergo a three-month training stint with German club Borussia Dortmund.

Johor Football Association (PBNJ) said Gary, who had signed for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) before the FAM suspended him would be sent to train with the German club during his period of suspension.

“We hope Gary will use the opportunity to improve his skills and strengthen JDT when he returns,” said PBNJ in JDT’s official Facebook, here today.

PBNJ had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Borussia Dortmund on December 22 to work with the German club to develop football in the state, especially at the grassroots level.

The MoU followed a meeting between Borussia Dortmund’s director for junior development, Edwin Boekamp, and the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who is also PBNJ president, on October 16 and 17.

FAM on January 16 slapped the three-month suspension on Gary and fined him RM50,000 after finding him guilty of signing for two teams — Pahang and JDT — before his contract with FAM had expired. – Bernama
