KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — Malaysia’s standing in world football remains at 154 when FIFA today released its first rankings for 2015.
Malaysia, which started January 2014 in 154th position ended the year in the same position after a roller-coaster ride from February to November.
In February there was an improvement to 150, followed by 141 in March, April 142, May
145, June 153, July 151, August 155, September 154, October 156, and November 155.
The current list has Malaysia in the company of countries such as North Korea (150), Syria (151), Kyrgyzstan (152), Hong Kong (156) and Singapore (157).
In Southeast Asia, Malaysia also remain in fifth position despite their success in the Suzuki AFF Cup, behind the Philippines (130), Vietnam (137), Myanmar (141) and Thailand (142).
Malaysia also maintain their position (28) among 46 Asian countries.
Germany, the 2014 World Cup winner, retain their status as the best team in the world with 1,725 points while Argentina are second on 1,538 and South American representative Colombia retain third spot with 1,450 points. — Bernama
