Nicol chalks up title win in Macau

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — Malaysian squash queen and world number one player, Datuk Nicol David put up a sizzling display to secure her first Macau Open title today.

In the final held at the Macau Squash Sports Complex, Nicol, the top seed, showcased a world-class performance to clinch a 11-8, 11-2 and 11-8 win against second seed and world number three player, Raneem El-Weleily of Egypt.

“So happy to win my first ‪‎Macau Open title after beating Raneem 3-0. Thanks to Macau Squash and everyone involved in making this tournament a successful major event for women’s squash,” Nicol said in her Facebook page.

In the men’s final which was all Egyptian affair, top seed Tarek Momen was forced to sweat it out before defeating second seed and defending champion, Omar Mosaad.

Tarek won the five-set thriller 6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 4-11 and 12-10. — Bernama
