INCHEON, Sept 28 — Malaysia won a second silver medal in tenpin bowling when the men’s trio delivered at Anyang Hogye Gymnasium today.  Zulmazran Zulkifli/Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek/Tan Chye Chern downed 3,801 pins to bring cheer to the camp.

The gold medal went to SasakiTomoyuki/Wada Shogo/Asato Shusaku of Japan    ( 3,881 pins).

The bronze medal went to Kim Kyungmin/Park Jongwoo/Choi Bokeum of South Korea (3,715 pins).

Malaysia’s first silver medal in tenpin bowling was won by Shalin Zulkifli/Sin Li Jane in the women’s doubles.

Malaysia’s second trio of Ang Hsien Loong/Ismail Rafiq/Liew Kien Liang came in tenth placing (3,640 pins).

Zulmazran said the silver medal helped to overcome disappointment with his performance in the men’s singles event.

“I regret not collecting many pins and encouraged the others to improve their performance” he added.

The trio’s success is better than at 2006 Doha Asian Games (fourth) and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games (ninth).

Meanwhile, Syafiq admitted that his performance in the last set was unsatisfactory and failed to overcome Japan.

“I regret failing to help the team to overtake Japan in last set despite having the chance to do so,” he said.  — Bernama
