Malaysia's archery trio advance to final, meet China

INCHEON, Sept 26 — The national archery trio have marched into the men’s team recurve final after they beat Japan in the semi-finals at Gyeyang Asiad Archery Field, here, today.

The national trio of Atiq Bazil Bakri, Haziq Kamaruddin and Khairul Anuar Mohamad produced consistent shots in the semi-finals to beat Japan’s trio of Takaharu Furukawa, Hideki Kukuchi and Shohei Ota, 5-1.

The Malaysian archers will meet China’s Gu Xuesong, Qi Kaiyao and Yong Zhiwei in the decider for the gold and silver medal this Sunday.

Khairul Anuar narrowly lost to Hideki Kukuchi of Japan in the individual event.

The two archers had to be determined via a shoot-off when both were tied at 5-5 with the Japanese archer prevailing in the end. — Bernama
