KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — All incidents involving 2014 Malaysia Cup competition will be discussed by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) after the new disciplinary code which is streamlined with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the International Football Association (Fifa) is approved.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said all reports received by FAM would be forwarded to the disciplinary committee chaired by Datuk Kang Hwee Ghee.

Among the cases to be discussed are the commotion after a group B match between Sarawak and Perak as well as an incident involving Kelantan coach George Boateng who allegedly charged into the pitch to attack the refereee after the Kelantan-Johor Darul Ta’zim match.

“The charges will only be sentenced after the disciplinary code has been adopted following the exco meeting on Oct 9.

“Before this, we will bring matters on changing the disciplinary code to a seminar for the integrity, disciplinary, ethical and appeal committees,” he told reporters after a ceremony to hand over a RM1 million sponsorship by Felda to the Asean Football Association (AFF) for the AFF Beach Football championships.

Also present were FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, AFF secretary-general Datuk Aizuddin Ahmad and Felda general manager Datuk Faizoull Ahmad.

Hamidin said a briefing on the new disciplinary code would be held before it is fully adopted.

“We have been directed by Fifa and AFC to hold briefings on a review of the disciplinary code in which officers from one of the two of bodies will be present at the briefing,” he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysia will host the maiden AFF Beach Football in Kuantan, Pahang from Oct 21 to 31.

The eight competing teams are Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Philippines and Felda. 

Aizuddin said the event would be in line with the 2015 AFC Beach Football championships scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar in April next year.  

“I hope we will be able to host the championships every year to popularise the sport to Asia as from the 12 countries involved in AFF, only seven countries are participating. I am confident in the years to come we will get more participation,” he said. — Bernama
