Terengganu to use break to strengthen team

KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 4 ― Terengganu chief coach Abdul Rahman Ibrahim will be capitalising on the month-long break to raise their game after booking a berth in the 2014 Malaysia Cup quarter-finals starting in early October.

He said the match against Johor Darul Takzim (JDT), the leaders of group C, was crucial for them to qualify for the semi-finals.

Therefore, he said there was a need to perk up team morale before the meeting with JDT, touted as possible Malaysia Cup champions this season.

“I am confident of defeating JDT in the quarter-finals for us to enter the final this year,” he told reporters after the team's last group stage match against Sarawak here last night which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Asked on the absence of goals, he admitted Terengganu's attacking machinery was still not as sharp as he wanted despite launching waves of attacks.

In fact, he said Terengganu players were not getting suficient rest after taking on six matches in three weeks.

“Despite playing well, we still lack the finishing. These are among the shortcomings I need to address,” he said. ― Bernama
