KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — National back up squad cyclist Muhammad Firdaus Mohd Zonis pulled off a pleasant surprise in the World Junior Track Cycling Championships at the Gwang Myeong Velodrome in South Korea by winning a bronze medal.
The winner of three gold medals at the Asian Cycling Championships (ACC) in 2013, clocked 1 minute 04.161 seconds in the men’s 1km individual Time Trial to finish in third place behind winner Jiri Janosek from the Czech Republic (1:02.558s) and silver medal winner Alexey Nosov from Russia (1:04.005s), according to the International Cycling Union (UCI) website.
His brother Muhammad Fadhil finished in 22nd spot among 36 riders who took part in the competition after clocking 1:07.187s. — Bernama
