KUANTAN, Feb 8 — The Pahang Football Association (PBNP) is convinced its supporters would not easily be provocative which resulted in the commotion between Pahang and Johor (JDT) football fans at a game at the Stadium Darul Makmur last night.
Its secretary-general, Fuzzeimi Ibrahim said this was not the first time the PBNP was in a football match, and the association had also met with representatives of the supporters clubs to ask that they behaved well while still showing support for their teams without provocating other supporters.
“I am confident the same thing has been done by the PBNJ (Johor Football Association) but the commotion still happened, creating difficulties for others.
“I do not want to accuse but it is not impossible that there are parties who do not want the football match to proceed peacefully without anything bad happening,” he told the media here today.
However, he refused to comment further on the incident and would wait for the police report before making any statements.
At the same time, he claimed that the Johor Football Association informed of the arrival of their supporters only at the last minutes before the game started.
“Prior to this, we were informed by JDT officials that their supporters would not be present at the match, during the meeting between Pahang and the squad officials in the morning of the match. However, at 6.30pm, the police informed me that the JDT supporters were present.
“I tried to contact the Johor FA for confirmation but nobody took my call,” he said.
However, he said the association still welcomed the JDT supporters by providing parking space and security control when entering the stadium.
Fuzzeimi said early information received about the arrival of the supporters of a team was important not just to prepare the seats but also for security measures. — Bernama
