YANGON, Jan 21 — Myanmar's national sport Chinlone will be included in the 28th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Singapore next year, a local newspaper reported.
According to the news report, Myanmar Chinlone Federation joint secretary U Pyae Sone Mint noted that the event in Singapore's SEA Games would be tougher as two more countries, Indonesia and the Philippines, would be participating in the event.
In the last SEA Games, the event saw five countries, including Malaysia, taking part in eight categories.
However, he expressed his confidence that Myanmar would maintain their performance and continue to dominate the event.
"We respect all our opponents but they can't beat us because this sport is our traditional sport. We are confident we can succeed," he was quoted as saying in the report.
Chinlone was first contested at the last SEA Games, hosted by Myanmar last year, where they dominated the event with six gold medals. The Malaysian squad bagged six bronze medals. — Bernama
