KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 26 — The Terengganu state government has allocated RM70,000 to pay incentives to athletes who contributed medals at the just concluded 27th Myanmar SEA Games.

State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Rozi Mamat said the incentives were for athletes who brought success to the state and country at the international stage.

“The incentives are to recognise the sacrifices made by athletes to win medals for the country,” he said.

Rozi said winners of gold, silver and bronze medals would receive RM2,500, RM2,000 and RM1,500 respectively.

He said the state government hoped the awarding of incentives to athletes would further inspire athletes to remain committed and work harder to achieve success in the future.

Rozi said the state government had also allocated RM25 million for the development of sports next year. — Bernama
