KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 — World number one women's squash player, Datuk Nicol Ann David is hoping for another successful year after completing half of the 2013 season on a winning note.

“Unfortunately, we did not have the Women's World Championship this year. I've prepared for it but it doesn't matter because the preparation is for the season (2013 season).

“I'm currently getting ready for the second half of the season. I'm just really happy that everything came together. I played well in the Hong Kong Open (last week) and finished off the year in good form.

“The second half of the season is to build up for next year. I am just putting in a few new things and starting it with a training programme right after my holiday,” the 30-year-old Penangite told Bernama, here today.

Earlier today, Nicol had attended the launching of game-changing  movement-technology, the Exogen Exoskeleton, by Sportboleh Sdn Bhd at the National Sports Institute (NSI) in Bukit Jalil.

The product catapults the current exercise and sports training in a gymnasium to future user defined and movement specific training that is useable anywhere.

Also presents at the event were Malaysia's Moto3 riders Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin, Amirul Hafiq Azmi and Husni Aizat Abdul Malik.

On her preparation for the Commonwealth and Asian Games, Nicol said that the preparation for both games would be very specific.

 “The preparation starts now as next year would be quite intense. So, I have to set my training programme really well,” she added.

Nicol will continue her training with Liz Irving in Amsterdam next year and currently continues her training here before enjoying a Christmas holiday with her family in Penang. — Bernama
