KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 12 — Mohd Azri Ahmad, Terengganu's new riding sensation, will spearhead the state's challenge in the 4th National Grand Prix series hosted by Negeri Sembilan from November 15 to 17.
Terengganu cycling coach Syed Mohd Hussaini Syed Mazlan said the team would comprise 16 riders, including three women riders.
“Azri was chosen to spearhead Terengganu's challenge because he is currently the number two rider in road races,” he told Bernama.
Syed Mohd Hussaini said the riders will be competing in the men's and women's elite, junior and below 16 age group.
He added that the riders would also represent Terengganu in the SUKMA next year.
Syed Mohd Hussaini said the grand prix was important for young riders to gain experience.
Mohd Azri is currently in second place for the overall road race category in the Grand Prix with 28 points while Mohd Badrol Hakimi Hamid leads the Junior Time Trial category with 50 points.
The women riders in the team are Sharifah Nur Eliana Syed Zulkifli, Nur Nadiah Ahmad and Sarah Shafiqah Ab. Shatai. — Bernama
