KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 — Diana Bong contributed Malaysia’s second gold medal through the women’s Nandao event at the 12th World Wushu Championship at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium, Cheras, today.

Diana collected 9.66 points ahead of silver medallist Lin Chih-yu of Taiwan (9.59 points) and bronze medallist Yuen Ka Ying of Hong Kong (9.57 points).

Malaysia also bagged the bronze through Chai Fong Wei, who scored 9.62 points in women’s Gunshu, while the gold was lifted by China’s Zheng Shaoyi (9.72 points) and the silver by Hong Kong’s Geng Xiao Ling (9.65 points).

For Diana, 28, the victory was her best performance ever after her fifth outing in the championship.

“I had won the silver and the bronze before. I am overwhelmed with my victory although my performance was not perfect,” said the Kuching athlete.

Meanwhile, Chai, who is pursuing a degree in business administration at Universiti Putra Malaysia, said she did not set a target in the championship except for giving her best performance.

She also won the bronze at the World Wushu Championship in Ankara, Turkey in 2011.
