NSC: No review of age limit for Sukma athletes
Malay Mail

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 ― The National Sports Council (NSC) has no plans to review the age limit of athletes who are allowed to participate in the Sukma.

NSC director-general Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong said the age limit for athletes who can participate in the Sukma will be maintained at 21, to ensure the development of junior athletes.

“The objective of the SUKMA is to unearth talented young athletes. As such, the age limit of 21 will be retained. If the age limit is reduced to 18, it will not serve the purpose because it will be a repetition of what the associations are doing and if we raise the age limit to 23, it will not help in the development,” he said when contacted by Bernama, today.

He said the age limit or rather the eligibility of athletes who are allowed to participate in the Sukma has always been a topic of contention. ― Bernama
