SEREMBAN, Aug 21 — Negeri Sembilan coach Ridzuan Abu Shah is keeping cool with his charges after creating a shocking 2-0 win over east coast powerhouse Terengganu in their first Malaysia Cup match this season in Group C at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Kuala Terengganu, last night.
However, he said the away victory would certainly boost the morale of the players in the next encounter.
“We did not put up anything special apart from carrying our tasks well. We will continue to maintain this brilliant rhythm to achieve our targets for this season,” he told Bernama here today.
He said even before the Terengganu match, he wanted to keep a low key of his team so as not to put undue pressure on the squad.
He said as a non-seeded team, he told his players to keep their focus on the 90-minute match.
“Clearly, the team are a good mix and combined well. I always reminded them not to be complacent and respect their opponents. I hope the squad will continue their dazzling flow consistently,” he said.
On the next match against Pahang at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi here on Saturday, Ridzuan said he would be taking the same approach.
“So the players need to stay focused and not to make errors which could punish the team. I am confident if they play to instructions, victory could be in our hands,” he said. — Bernama
