PETALING JAYA, Aug 1 — National hockey player Chua Boon Huat was killed early today in a road accident on the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) near the Kelana Jaya LRT station, police said.

The Proton Perdana car driven by Chua, 33, is believed to have collided with a tanker lorry watering plants along the LDP in the 2.25am accident, said a spokesman for the Petaling Jaya police.

A Fire and Rescue team comprising an officer and five personnel from Damansara rushed to the scene of the accident to remove Chua who was trapped in his car, he said.

Chua sustained head injuries and died on the spot, he added.

“The body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Chua, who was from Bukit Cina, Malacca, had played hockey for the country since 1998 when he was just 17. — Bernama
