Negri Sembilan top medal standing on second day

KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — Negri Sembilan topped the medal standing on the second day of the 16th Malaysia Games (Sukma) after winning two gold medals in fencing today.

The gold medals came through Mohd Nashriq Adli Noor Jali in the Epee men’s individual and Anis Syaqireen Jamaludin in the Foil women’s individual.

Yesterday, they had won a bronze in the Epee women’s individual through Noorazeera Adeera Noor Jali.

The Federal Territories dropped to second place with one gold, one silver and one bronze followed by Sabah who have won a gold and a bronze.

In the netball event which opened today, Federal Territories, Terengganu, Kedah and Johor made a bright start, defeating their respective opponents in the first round at Stadium Juara Bukit Kiara.

It was the same for Sarawak, Penang and Federal Territories in the basketball competion at the MABA Stadium.

In the men’s water polo, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Malacca easily sailed through in the first round of matches at the National Aquatics Centre, Bukit Jalil.

Malacca and Selangor were also in top form in women’s water polo.

The highlights tomorrow are fencing and judo. – Bernama
